A National Celebration on the Launch of "Tartus Madinati"

"We are not just ink on paper, but our feet are heavy in the field." With these words, Governor Ahmad Al-Shami described the Tartus Madinati team during the foundation's launch event at the cultural center in Tartus.

Tartus, October 25, 2026: In a distinctive national atmosphere, the cultural center in Tartus hosted the launch ceremony of the "Tartus Madinati Foundation." Attendees included members of the People's Assembly, the regional director, the port director, heads of various government departments, a selection of Tartus dignitaries, and a large crowd of its citizens.
The ceremony began with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the attendees reciting Al-Fatiha in honor of the souls of the martyrs of the Syrian revolution. After a screening of the film "It Has Returned to Us... So We Must Build," which narrates the story of the initiative since its inception after liberation, Captain Kamel Abdel Jalil Abu Bakr, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, delivered a speech on behalf of the foundation. Following him, Board member Bassam Rifai presented the key features of the foundation's strategic plan in a visual presentation titled "We Raise the Sail."
The foundation honored two "icons of the revolution": journalist Hadi Al-Abdallah, who became the voice of the people to the world, conveying the truth from places that others dared not reach, and war correspondent Muhammad Jamal, who accompanied fighters from the very first moment of the "Deterrence of Aggression" battle. The foundation received two commemorative shields, the first from the Youth Affairs Foundation and the second from the "Tartus Unites Us" group.
Sheikh Mahmoud Haj Fattouh delivered a speech about the significance of giving and serving the people. Engineer Mais Hajjoos spoke on behalf of the volunteers, and then children and youth from "Tartus Madinati" presented an artistic segment that expressed the values of the foundation.
The governor then gave a speech praising the team's volunteer efforts and the importance of transitioning to institutional work, emphasizing dedication and selflessness in collective and volunteer efforts. The ceremony concluded with a group photo that brought together officials and volunteers.
Alongside the ceremony, a photo exhibition was held to document the group's achievements and initiatives since liberation, where attendees, including the governor, recorded their wishes for the foundation on a "Sail of Wishes."
